Why I bought the HTC One (M8) straight away

The HTC One (M8) was announced and instantly released on Wednesday to a keen and intrigued awaiting audience. The HTC One was by far, the highest awarded phone of 2013 and suggested by some to be the best, beating the S4 due to it’s build quality and superior software. The HTC One produced arguably the best experience on any mobile phone in 2013 and so people expected an even better experience for it’s successor in the HTC One M8.

The new HTC One was announced with a larger 5” display (same resolution), a more powerful, Quad-Core 801 Qualcomm processor, a large 2600 mAh battery, 20% louder BoomSound, 20% point increase in the metal body, a brand new HTC Sense, named Sixth Sense (Sense 6.0), an increased pixel-count in the front facing camera to 5mp and a secondary camera on the back to add a depth of field. As you can see, no new outstanding features, just upgrades on everything else that was already amazing with the original One. This seems more like an incremental upgrade than a revolutionary device which is exactly what I, as the average consumer, was hoping for.

Now the title of this article if why I bought the HTC One straight away. As you might know, I’m a 20 year old student, those are the two most important things you’ll probably need to know as to why I wanted this phone.
All the reviews suggest that this phone is nothing short of the best phone of the year so far, which is exactly what I want as I’m looking for a new phone right now. The one problem that many reviewers found with the device was that the main camera was a little average for their liking in bright light surroundings. However, was by far the best phone for low-light shots which is exactly what I need. As a student, I see little day light as throughout the day I’m working or watching TV, I only go out at night to go to a club or for drinks, this means that having a camera with brilliant low-light performance is of incredible importance when shooting for shots of people falling over or pulling an awkward thumbs-up. The rear camera for me is going to be perfect and as long as the front facing camera takes a good snapchat, I’m perfectly happy!
The HTC has been reviewed to be a solid phone that will perform every single task you throw at it with ease and have no problem getting you through the day with a lengthy battery life thanks to the new 801 Qualcomm processor and larger battery that HTC has fitted into the shell. Battery life and fast and reliable performance are incredibly important for me as the majority of the time, I am using my phone to quickly pull out, grab a picture, or reply to a text, or send a tweet and reliability is key here. However, if I wish to download the latest game, I know I’ll have no problem playing such game with the most powerful processor on the market right now.
The HTC One M8 boasts an incredible design also with high-grade materials and a premium feel that no other phone on the market can offer. For someone who relies on having the latest and best looking piece of technology or clothing, this is great importance to me as I know this will be a phone that will turn heads and impress those that have a narrow iPhone-only mind.

It would be an understatement to say that I’m excited to get my hands on my new HTC One M8 tomorrow morning and that I will be playing on it all day. Give me my HTC One - I’m sick of using this iPhone!
